"Chance"
by Julio Czar Monteron
I was a king that took a chance
hoping to hold a shining star in my hands.
See it beyond a simple glance
and ask it for a single heartfelt dance
I searched until world's end
for that one star that God would send.
beyond where the mountains rend
I found one with a heart I could not mend
I stayed for a hundred days
over the night's cloak and under the sun's rays
the pain you are enduring I tried to erase
but the way to your heart was an intricate maze
One twilight I heard you singing
a song of goodbye that marked our bitter ending
that very night I lost everything
you decided to leave and return to the evening
I tore my wings so you could fly
then you disappeared into the moonlit sky
The love I gave was true, not a lie
I did all I could but you did not even try
Is this the gift I recieve from thee
after I healed you and finally set you free?
I only wish that you could see
that the one that truly loves you is me.
